“Having trained with Mum’s on a Mission previously and achieving fantastic results, I didn’t hesitate to sign up again after having my 2nd child and gaining a few more kilos than I’d like to admit.
I started back at Mum’s on a Mission in a very negative frame of mind due to my unhappiness with having as what I perceived as “letting myself go” after the birth of my son. I knew I would achieve my goals training with Mum’s on a Mission as I did with my 1st child but never expected the level of confidence I now have in myself which has not only come from losing 13kgs but also regaining my fitness.
I firmly believe that we only have ourselves to thank for our success in life, but without Bec and her amazing team of trainers, their constant motivation and amazing training sessions, I wouldn’t have achieved happiness in myself again. Weight loss is fantastic but it doesn’t compare to the feeling of “I can do this, I will do this and nothing will stop me”. Mum’s on a Mission is so much more than a Boot Camp, it’s a support network and a fantastic way to make great friends with similar interests while getting fit and having a laugh at the same time.”
“It was time for me to do something for me! I’d been wanting to incorporate some sort of fitness into my weekly hectic schedule (mother of 2 and working 3 days a week) for a long time but never did anything about it until I was introduced to Mum’s on a Mission. I wanted to do something that I enjoyed, something challenging and something ultimately rewarding. For me this was getting into shape, regaining my fitness and getting outdoors with like-minded women.
With the help and support of weekly sessions with Bec and her trainers I’ve been able to achieve my goals. Not only did I lose 5kg, but I also regained my fitness, found great support networks of friends who grin and bare tough training sessions together, and we also manage to have a laugh and support each other along the way.
Coming to training has turned into my passion, it’s improved not only my health and wellbeing but also my family’s.
There is nothing more rewarding and beneficial than for my children to have a mum who can keep up with them physically and for me to feel happy within myself and full of life and energy. A huge thanks to the great team of trainers at Mum’s on a Mission, and of course to all the fabulous mums that make turning up for training fun!”
“I began my journey with Mum’s on a Mission 5 1/2 months ago. Since then it has been a roller coaster of emotions. I was so depressed about my body and didn’t believe I could or would ever make a change. I met Bec and from that moment I felt so comfortable and inspired. My problem was self-doubt and I still remember Bec encouraging me from day 1, she has definitely shown me anything is possible. I set myself a long term goal of getting back to what I weighed 10 years ago and I did it!!!
In under 6 months – today I’m so happy, full of energy, I feel great and have so much more to achieve.
Don’t get me wrong it’s been hard, I’ve had so many days where I thought it’s all too hard just give up but I think of where I have come from. When I started I couldn’t do a warm up lap, not a hope at a push-up, & failed completely at planking. Now I’m up on my toes doing push-ups and planking and so much more! One of my biggest achievements was just this week when I ran 6km for the first time!!
Mum’s on a Mission has been such a life changing experience for me, I have achieved goals I never thought possible. Now I serve up fresh healthy food my whole family is enjoying and benefiting from and I can run! I have the energy to play with my children all day. I love the new me and the amount of happiness I feel.
To Bec and the team a HUGE thank you for being so incredibly supportive and encouraging no matter what time of day or night. From training to meal plans to home workouts, nothing is ever a problem. Thank you for giving me your time and believing in me – “I am fit, I am strong, I am super mum, I believe in me” BECAUSE you believed in me Mum’s on a Mission – thank you!!!”
“My journey at Mum’s on a Mission hasn’t been about weight loss (although that has been an added benefit!), it has primarily been about my health. I suffered gestational diabetes during both of my pregnancies, which was quickly developing into Type II diabetes. Two months after the birth of my second child, I was constantly experiencing that all too familiar feeling of high blood glucose levels (BGLs) despite following a strict diet. Being at home with two small children and high BGLs can be a very dark place to be. I was not the happy, energetic, healthy mum I wanted to be. And it was my children that were paying the price for this.
New Years Eve 2013; I knew I was very close to being diagnosed with Type II diabetes and I decided I was going to make 2014 the year to focus on my health and get fitter and stronger than I ever had before, in a bid to delay, if not prevent, the diagnosis of Type II diabetes. I emailed Bec at Mum’s on a Mission. I first met Bec a few months earlier while we were collecting our kids from daycare. Bec seemed to radiate energy and I was instantly inspired by her. We talked briefly about her business and I loved the fact that her group fitness sessions were run outdoors and we could bring our kids along (a huge draw card!). She was the obvious person to contact a couple of months later when I was ready to start my fitness makeover.
I remember the first few sessions at Mum’s on a Mission where I would look on disbelievingly at what the trainers expected me to do. I couldn’t bridge for 10 seconds never mind a minute, I couldn’t do a sit up or a walking plank. I would laugh when they demonstrated how to do a wall climb or a pike for the first time and remember saying ‘you want me to do what??’ But they were serious and they believed in me and so I gave it my best shot. I finished every session feeling I had accomplished something extraordinary for me. I was also inspired by the amazing mums that attended the sessions; by their happy, confident, smiles and their fit, healthy bodies. I knew I was in the right place.
I repeated my oral glucose tolerance test 2 months into my training. I narrowly avoided a diagnosis of Type II diabetes and still had intolerance to glucose. I wanted to step up my training and re-assess my diet. I signed up for the 12km HBF run, which was pretty scary as I had never been a runner! However, Bec had confidence in me and she came up with a running training program to get me there. She also gave me a diet plan to complement the training, which provides a variety of nutrients and long lasting energy without risking high BGLs. I completed the run in 1hr and 14 mins and rose over $500 for DiabetesWA. I then jumped at the chance of joining the Mum’s On A Mission team at the 2014 Western Mudd Rush. I am now looking forward to doing the Colour Run with my 4 year old daughter and I’m training for the Tristate Triathlon in December. This is something I never thought I would do as I am far from a strong swimmer and haven’t ridden a bike in years, but I know from experience that the bigger the challenge the greater the reward.
It has now been 10 months since I first started Mum’s on a Mission and all I can say is ‘Wow!! So this is what it feels like to be one of those fit and healthy people!!! Why didn’t I do this year’s ago!’ I have finally learnt how important it is to look after myself before I can look after others. Amazingly, I can’t remember when I last had high BGLs…. I am finally that happy, healthy mum that has endless energy and patience for her kids. I have a new lease on life and I have Mum’s On A Mission to thank for it. Thank you girls.”
